We had the honour of installing CCTV equipment for the renowned Splendour in the Grass festival, held at the North Byron Parklands, Byron Bay NSW in July this year.

One of the main purposes of the installation was to support the Medical and Security staff in identifying, highlighting and directing key personnel when incidents occurred at the festival.

Due to the vast volume of people in attendance, having eyes ‘up high’ and being able to direct personnel to where they need to be was supplementary to the existing network of resources used to observe, control and help ensure the safety of all festival-goers.

The main components we used in this project were Hikvision 2MP Outdoor Darkfighter & Mini IR PTZ cameras, integrated onto an Avigilon Appliance platform for video management and navigation. The choice of components was based on marrying a cost-effective solution with a user-friendly platform.

What is a PTZ camera?

PTZ Security Cameras allow you to control the (P) pan, (T) tilt and (Z) zoom operations of the camera lens remotely, through a surveillance network video recorder or direct via the camera itself.

PTZ Cameras have the ability to move up, down, right, left, and to zoom in and out of an image. (Just in case the question comes up in a pub quiz!)
